Adobe has allowed users of old versions of Creative Suite not to pay for security patches.

A curious situation has developed over the past few days around several of Adobe's flagship products.

Many people know that the latest version of Creative Suite 6 was recently released, including Photoshop, Illustrator, DreamWeaver and other programs, which, by the way, will now be able to work on a subscription, eliminating the need to buy the program for all. Shortly before this, Adobe released a number of security fixes, which the company itself had marked as critical; it turned out that the patches actually update the old Creative Suite 5.x to the current sixth version and users need to pay for fixes to get a secure product. In particular, the cost of the update for Photoshop CS6 was $ 199, for Illustrator CS6 - $ 249, for Flash Professional CS6 - $ 99. True, Shockwave Player offered to upgrade for free.

It is curious that Adobe stated that Photoshop is not a favorite target for hackers and the problem "... if it shouldn’t have been a big deal.

Probably, the outraged responses of users to the company's strange policy regarding the security of their products did not leave the leadership untouched. They didn’t insist on Adobe and changed the decision - the company announced that all Creative Suite 5.x users who are not satisfied with the actual purchase of a new version of software under the guise of security updates will still get them for free - just for their version of the package.

Whether it was laziness of programmers or simply the desire of Adobe to transplant more users for the new version of its package, while at the same time earning it, is hard to say, but the fact that a world-famous company listens to the audience’s opinion is at least remarkable.
