According to trusted sources, one of the key functions in iOS 6 will be Apple’s own maps. The company will abandon the Google maps used since 2007 in favor of its own application with its own back-end. The design of the application, as they say, will be basically similar to the existing Google Maps on the iPhone, iPad and iPod, but it is described as cleaner, faster and more reliable.
I must say that Apple already has full control over the design of map applications for iOS, but its filling, back-end, belongs to Google. This should change in iOS 6, Apple will build its maps based on technologies acquired with Placebase, C3 Technologies and Poly9, which allowed the company to create its own map database. For a completely "home" application, the simple name Maps will probably be used. ')
Apple is supposed to replace Google Street View with its own work, the above mentioned C3 Technologies is working on it. With the help of the company's technology, 3D mode will appear on the maps - beautiful realistic volumetric graphics based on declassified military algorithms (see screenshot and video).
iOS 6 will most likely be presented at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference in mid-June.
