Be happy for free? Easy!
A computer is just a collection of hardware. The programs installed on it make it really useful. Only programs can turn a computer into an entertainment multimedia center, a developer tool or a designer tool. And so it happened that among any category of programs there are certain leaders. These programs (often paid and overloaded with excessive functionality) are installed by users. But why limit your choice to TOP, if you can always find an alternative?
A reasonable approach to software has long been practiced in Western countries. There are many English-language sites dedicated only to free programs. Of course, there are such sites in runet, but only those interested in them know about them. A novice user will be much faster offered shareware and a crack in addition, than he will know about the existence of an alternative.
And by the way, events are developing and the sensational "Case Ponosov" - this is not the last point. Rather, this is a preface and the main wave of the fight against piracy is still ahead.

The fight against warez is not the main and only goal of my blog. I’m a realist and understand perfectly well that with the help of one or even thousands of blogs you can’t convince millions of users. What is more important is the destruction of stereotypes. Good and necessary programs are not necessarily Microsoft Office, Nero and Photoshop.
If “Free Alternative” were just another blog about software, it would be too boring and hardly worth the time that I and you spend. A free alternative is an attempt to look at the world with wide open eyes, without stereotypes and patterns, and find out that you can be happy completely free.

It is good when schools switch to licensed software. But when they buy professional products - Adobe Flash (I still don’t understand why), Photoshop (just because it has a task in the Olympiad), as well as Windows Vista (which will not be installed) ... well, I don’t see the logic and rationality of thinking ... :)
