Porn company sues Tumblr for copyright infringement

If you wondered how sites like Tumblr continue to work, when copywriters of all stripes are activated from all sides, you will be interested - the largest web players (representatives of the porn industry) are suing Tumblr because of copyright infringement.

The publisher of adult products, Perfect 10, filed a lawsuit for $ 5,000,000 for the distribution of photos, the rights to which belong to its regular photographers.

In his lawsuit, Perfect 10 notes that Tumblr indulges violators - all you need to do to distribute photos is a click of a button.

The plaintiff sent six DMCA notices to the former head of Tumblr, John Maloney, with the requirement to remove over 200 photos. So far, only a few photos have been deleted.

Quoting porn kings, “Tumblr should be responsible for not fulfilling its DMCA obligations and deliberately ignoring copyright infringements that literally permeate the entire site.”

By the way, Tumblr is not the first to be attacked by Perfect 10. Not long ago, a porn publisher sued several large companies that "illegally used company-owned photos." Among the respondents are Google, Amazon, Microsoft.

If Perfect 10 wins this time, it can trigger a domino effect, and Pinterest and similar resources may well be next.

To the eternal question - should the resource owner be responsible for user content?
