Microsoft closes Windows Mobile Marketplace

Here it is - the real end of an era. Less than two weeks remained until the close of the Windows Mobile Marketplace, and Microsoft once again notified users with a newsletter recommending that “install all possible updates ... before closing the store.” After that, they will cease to be distributed in a centralized mode, however, in any case, the programs and updates can be downloaded from the manufacturers' websites - if they still work by that time.



Windows Mobile is a mobile operating system developed by Microsoft for its own Pocket PC and Smartphone hardware platforms. Windows Mobile 6 was born on February 12, 2007, version 6.5 - in May 2009 (ironically, exactly 3 years ago), and the latest version - Windows Mobile 6.5.3 - was released on February 2, 2010. It must be admitted that Windows Mobile was an important step in the development of the mobile industry - the system tried (although perhaps too hard) to transfer the "computer" experience to other devices. However, it is equally obvious that Microsoft with Windows Mobile overslept the change in the mobile paradigm and now it is not clear whether they can regain their former power or not.
