I know that Habra is not a travel blog. But the theme of the Silicon Valley is constantly on the edge. Stanford University is also often mentioned.
I searched for a search - but I did not find a single full-fledged photo report from Stenfood campus.
I hope, this information will be useful to habrovchanam who are planning a trip to California.

Unfortunately, we could not find a student who would tell us about the university “from the inside”. Therefore, my story is exclusively about the "outer" shell ...
PS Added “IT companies offices” to the blog - since Stanford was the office of many IT startups.
It makes sense to start acquaintance with Stanford from the Tourist Center. This is a separate small building with consultants inside. They will give a free map, tell you what and where to look.

Also in the center there are computers with free internet, a toilet and even a mini-kitchen where you can make tea.

From here twice a day start sightseeing tours, which are conducted by students. During the tour they tell the story of the University, talk about campuses and about the life of students. You can ask any questions.

The campus is very large.

The buildings are mostly low, 2-4 floors. Entrance of cars is prohibited, only service ones. On campus, everyone moves on bicycles.

Near each building of the cycle parking.

How nice, perhaps, to sit in such a public garden with a supervisor and discuss the thesis

The doors of most faculties are open. You can go to anyone and sit down to listen to a lecture. No one asks for documents. Anyone can also go to the dining room - we ate Chinese food.
For example, a message board in the dining room:

Also, anyone can go to the library. You only need to register, show your passport (if you are not a university student) and you get access to almost all sections of the library.
Walking around campus is very nice. Cleanliness and accuracy are pleasing to the eye.

On the campus there is a church. But there is no religious load on students - there are so many students from other countries and other religions.

Summary. If you are passing through Silicon Valley, be sure to stroll around Stanford. It's worth it. This is an example of what a university could be.
