Flying robot could put on the palm of man

Now many research institutes, private companies and enthusiasts are working to create all sorts of robots. Is no exception and the University of Illinois, USA. Here, the development team has created a robot, at the same time similar to both the airframe and the bird. Its wings have several degrees of freedom, and are controlled automatically.

Thanks to this system, researchers have learned to put the robot right on the palm of a person, at a distance of several meters from the starting point of flight. From the first frames it seems that the developers have simply learned how to accurately hit some glider at the hand of an employee. But in slow-motion video playback, it becomes clear that everything is much more complicated.

In flight, the robot determines the location of the human hand, and directs its flight (thanks to the appropriate software) so as to sit exactly on the palm. When landing, the behavior of the robot is very similar to the behavior of a real bird.
