After 3 years of development, the long-awaited release of GIMP version 2.8 took place.

Major changes:
- Single window mode (disabled by default, available in the “Windows” menu)
- Redesigned file saving dialog
- grouping layers
- Drawing elements with Cairo (instead of canvas)
- Rotation of brushes
- Changes in the hotkeys
- Ability to perform simple mathematical operations in the input fields of numbers
- Numerous plugin changes

Known issues:
GIMP 2.8 depends on a newer version of GTK + 2, which has problems with support for tablets, such as Wacom. If your tablet does not work properly, it is recommended to roll back to 2.6 and wait for release 3.0, which provides full support for GTK + 3
