Apple rejects any applications that use Dropbox

A curious problem is discussed by the developers on the Dropbox forum.

Apple rejected the mobile app Cambox for the App Store on the grounds that if Dropbox is not installed on the user's device, then the new Dropbox SDK authorizes the service through the web. At the same time, the browser opens an authorization form, and on the same Dropbox page there is a link to the “desktop version”, and if you follow the link to the desktop version, the user will see a link to purchase additional space on Dropbox.

Apple sees this situation as “forcing the user to make an additional purchase,” which is prohibited by the rules for applications on the App Store.

Cambox developers ask colleagues from Dropbox to remove the link to the desktop version, otherwise their application — and any other programs that use Dropbox — will never pass through the App Store.

Developers of other programs who encountered the same problem in the App Store also spoke at the Dropbox forum.
