This time, the beginning of May was marked not only by holidays and a large number of weekends, but also by the release of 2GIS 3.6.
Recall: in version 3.6, the transition to a new, fully three-dimensional engine took place, in connection with which city maps changed visually.
So, what's new in how maps are now displayed? Here's what: firstly, thanks to the new color scheme and the new engine, 2GIS "can" focus on certain details at different levels of image scale. For example, at the maximum distance federal roads and settlements of agglomerations are clearly visible, as you approach, you can see individual areas, railways, streets, and finally, three-dimensional models of buildings, the shape of which corresponds to reality. Actually, this is our “second”: 2GIS cards now have volume!
')
By the way, the models of buildings are made translucent so as not to obscure the objects behind them. And in the future it will be possible to forget about this possible problem in general, due to the fact that the map rotation function will appear.

To use the map it was even more pleasant, kinetic scrolling was added - with fast dragging, the map continues to move by inertia. But what is especially impressive, with all these external beauties, performance not only did not fall, but even increased - everything works smoothly and without delay. And this is with the previous meager system requirements!

And we made a display of the names of metro stations right on the map - this will definitely be useful for orientation in major cities, especially in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

As already mentioned, the color scheme of the maps was also brought into a more modern look and changed. In the course of development, the set of colors changed several times, until we came to a variant created according to the principle of combining the idea “new is well forgotten old” and current trends. And this option, we hope, will suit the absolute majority of our current and future users.
Now you can dwell on the colors in more detail and find out which ones mean what.
Residential buildings have a beige color:

And this is what administrative buildings look like (brown):

Another type of buildings we call "known by purpose" and has a gray color. These are various kinds of buildings, garages, utility buildings and the like:

Kindergartens, nurseries have a pink color:

And schools are blue:

New buildings painted light orange:

But private houses - in light yellow:

Of course, as before, urban areas also have their own colors (depending on the destination), so that you can quickly get an idea of what is in this area.
The new version can be downloaded right now from
www.2gis.ru , and if you have already installed the previous one, simply download the new one using the Update Center. We hope that 2GIS 3.6 will like you as much as we like it!
