Mail.Ru increased the boxes to 10 GB, and letters - up to 30 MB

Yandeks.Pochta retained the title of the most technically advanced mail service of Runet in just five days. Today, an increase in the minimum size of “endless” mailboxes to 10 GB was announced by the mail portal Mail.Ru , less than a week after the similar announcement by Yandex . At the same time, the maximum size of attachments in one letter was increased to 30 MB (at Yandex - 20 MB), so that Mail.ru again came out on these parameters in the first place. Obviously, this was done under pressure from a competitor, but in the business environment it is not customary to talk about such things, therefore such wording was inserted into the press release.

“Given the tendency to increase the size of the average investment, the administration of the National Postal Service decided to expand the possible amount of information sent to 30 MB. Since an increase in the size of the attachment is likely to result in a faster filling of the mailbox, now it is not 5 GB that is allocated for storing letters, but 10 GB of free space. ”

That is, “Yandex” has absolutely nothing to do with it, but the whole thing is supposedly in “average statistical tendencies”. In fact, even from Grishin’s words, it is clear that mail for Mail.Ru is a key service, and it is crucially important for them to provide a really better service (this is why the size of the attachment was fundamentally made larger than that of Yandex).

“Postal service is the oldest and strategically important area for our company,” says Dmitry Grishin, general director of Mail.Ru. - Mail.Ru steadily occupies a leading position, for many years remaining the largest mail of the Runet, and this imposes on us serious obligations to provide our users with the most modern and convenient mail service. In the spring of this year, we were the first in the world to increase the basic mailbox size to 5 gigabytes, now we are giving users even more opportunities, because we are going to remain the best in the future. ”
“The national postal service Mail .Ru is the largest e-mail system in Russia, surpassing all Russian analogues in popularity and functionality,” a press release reported. - More than 25 million letters pass through Mail.ru mailboxes daily. The total number of registrations since its inception is about 60 million. "
