On KickStarter, online community members expose fraudsters

The well-known project KickStarter on joint financing of projects is working quite successfully - for the third year of operation, $ 119.6 million was financed, and the site’s revenue was $ 6 million.

It is not surprising that the successful experience in raising funds for various game projects also inspires fraudsters who allow themselves to act rather clumsy, without bothering themselves even with appropriate preparation.

Recently, a site for collecting projects for the game Mythic: The Story of Gods and Men appeared on the site, which was positioned by the creators as an action with RPG elements, and the creators of the game are “industry veterans” who “are former employees of Activision and Blizzard”. The company itself was called Little Monster Productions.

The goal of the project was to collect $ 80,000, and users managed to raise $ 4,739 before participants in various resources such as Rock, Paper, Shotgun and Reddit noticed that the design elements of the new game were copied from other available projects, photos of the company's office, not long thinking, they also simply took it from the network, and even the poster of the game turned out to be quickly “bungled” from other available materials.

As a result, when the project was suspected of, to put it mildly, dubious plans, the creators quickly deleted the game site and the Facebook page, although on the project's KickStarter page there is still a demo video on which a young man gives a close-up account of its features and game. -play
