InAU against state control over the Internet

The Internet Association of Ukraine (InAU) opposes the introduction of state control and regulation of the Internet, the need for which was previously announced by the Head of the Department of Special Telecommunication Systems and Information Protection of the Security Service of Ukraine Konstantin Boyko. This is stated in the association's statement, the text of which Ukrainian News has .

The Association expressed concern about statements about the need to regulate the Internet by government agencies in the interests of national security, believing that, under this pretext, attempts are being made to impose censorship and control over all types of information on the Internet.

InAU believes that there is no point in introducing additional control, since equipment for information protection has already been installed at the sites of providers providing Internet services to government agencies. At the same time, non-governmental organizations, according to the law, can independently, without the intervention of state bodies, choose the means of protecting their information.

The Association also emphasizes that the principles of lawful interception of telecommunications have not yet been determined by law, since the corresponding draft law has not been adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. "And this, in turn, opens up opportunities for abuse by those who will have access to all types of information, including a trade secret," the statement said.

The association also opposed the licensing of activities on the Internet, believing that this is against the law, as well as could worsen the investment climate.
