UK court closed access to The Pirate Bay

If you live in the UK, then when you try to log in to tpb, you will have to wait for an unpleasant surprise.

The UK Supreme Court ruled that all providers must now block access to the TPB site.

Sky, Everything Everywhere, TalkTalk, O2 and Virgin Media, the largest UK providers, have been ordered to block access to the resource. Based on the data for 2009, we can say that the decision will affect more than 51,500,000 users of the Network - in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The British Phonographic Industry, the British counterpart of the RIAA, only welcomed this decision.

“Sites like The Pirate Bay destroy jobs in the UK and undermine investment in new talent,” a BPI spokesman said.

Small update

5 providers (listed in the topic) should prevent users from accessing the site.
The sixth major provider, BT, asked for a head start in a few weeks to determine its position in relation to blocking the site.

BPI Executive Director Jeff Taylor reported that the Supreme Court confirmed that The Pirate Bay is infringing copyright on a massive scale.

I quote Jeff: “The owners of The Pirate Bay fill their pockets by spreading other people's music, for which they haven’t paid a penny. In addition, the creators of these musical compositions and videos also receive nothing. It is not right".

Historical excursion

In November 2011, BPI tried to request providers to voluntarily prevent access to Pirate Bay. The providers then stated that they would not do anything without a court order.
