Today, Yandex lifted a ban on placing encrypted files on its services.

This is our small, but still a victory. I want to thank everyone who took part in this, everyone who tweeted, who made a blog post, who commented, etc. Only thanks to the active involvement of people in the discussion of this pressing problem did we manage to “push through” at least a small, but still very important change in the user agreement of Yandex.

PS: Our success is somewhat clouded by the fact that Yandex made this change quietly, without notifying its users via email (as is often, but not always done by Google).
