Sony Ericsson has contacted Windows Mobile

Taiwan information resource Commercial Times, known for its awareness of everything that is happening in the IT world, published a curious news. According to her, HTC, one of the market leaders in communicators and smartphones, recently received ODM orders for the manufacture of smartphone models for Sony Ericsson. But not on the basis of the UIQ platform, but on the basis of Windows Mobile, to which the Swedish-Japanese brand had nothing to do before.

According to rumors, new models of smartphones on Windows Mobile will appear in the second half of next year, and the volume of first shipments will exceed as much as a million units, which is a lot even for such a large manufacturer like HTC. If everything said by the gentlemen of the Commercial Times is true, then this will be the first experience of High Tech Computer Corporation in carrying out an ODM order for such a well-known vendor.

Of course, this information instantly gave rise to rumors that Sony Ericsson intends to abandon Symbian UIQ and completely switch to Microsoft products. On the one hand, there is a certain amount of soundness in this, but on the other hand, we should not forget that SE owns a decent share of Symbian shares, so this kind of betrayal is absolutely useless for her now.
