Mail.Ru and Rambler covered up the possibility of registering new users with Cyrillic logins

Evening friday

In this topic, I will not try to answer the question " Why do we need Cyrillic logins? ", But just want to draw the attention of the public to the fact of international discrimination, artificially created by the largest postal companies, such as Google and Yandex . Looking at them, the rest of the Russian postal service, such as Mail.ru and Rambler , also decided to support their desire to strangle-on-the-root support for national alphabets in postal addresses.

I repent: I myself, personally, also, involuntarily, made some contribution to the process of “choking” national logins, recklessly writing to the support of these mailers, letters with a rac proposal, about carrying out automatic conversion of Cyrillic addresses in the web interface of their mail, He also described the possible (inevitable) problems of the mass spread (epidemics) of the associated information security threats, and the methods of effective protection against the phishing of national addresses.

But, instead of starting to compile and update a more or less adequate black list containing
xn - i1atf
xn - 90agu3en
xn - 80ahid8a
and another, similar to this disgrace, simply decided to take, and completely prohibit the registration of new accounts containing two minuses going in a row.

And, Cyrillic postal addresses exist? No, son. It's fantastic

National domains have long become a reality, but have not yet become widespread, perhaps even due to the fact that the interfaces of the most popular (not afraid of this word, in general ) mail programs do not provide for automatic conversion of national logins (left part of the mailing address) in canonical form, suitable for further transfer to mail servers. For example:
Priceboard@prisbord.rf xn--80acjs0acheg@xn--80acjs0acheg.xn--p1ai
This circumstance looks most strange if there is a “half-hearted” support for automatic conversion (only the right part) of the postal address by almost all modern mailers (including mailing agents built into browsers).

But, where does Mail.Ru and Rambler?

The fact is that Rambler had (recently the service is unavailable) the ability to connect Rambler-mail for his domain (with all) the resulting goodies completely free of charge. But, after the sudden cover of Cyrillic logins, the meaning of this service completely disappeared. Mail.RU, although it did not provide an opportunity to screw up its own domains, however, having exhausted a long time ago the reserve of not only “beautiful”, but also simply “sane” addresses (in Latin), until recently, left an absolutely obvious possibility to register Cyrillic logins.

And was there a MAIL'chik?

My comment about the fact that Google Mail (unlike Mail.RU) does not support Cyrillic logins, mercilessly zaminusili. At first I did not understand what was the matter, but then everything fell into place.

The fact is that, still, six months ago, I successfully registered such e-mail addresses:
chat@mail.ru xn--80a0bn@mail.ru
rambler@rambler.ru xn--80acmxdwf@rambler.ru
The fact that they are working is very easy to verify, just by writing a couple of letters to me and receiving answers from me.
If, for any reason, you do not wish to write letters to these addresses, then, for example, in the case of Mail.RU, you can simply search my mail account through the mail-agent.

And how are things with our brothers 中国 @ 中国. 中国

Honestly I do not know. Talk about international addresses began back in 2008.

Experimental standards

RFC 5335 , 5336 and 5337
The most recent 6530 was written in February 2012.
ICANN conducts testing of national domains and national mailboxes .

Road to the future

I really hope that if Microsoft, in its Windows 8 (and, in its out-glitch), finally finishes the function of full-fledged conversion of national addresses, then other “small bipods”, such as de bat , tunder bird, apple ...
