Pi number in pixels

The design studio TWO-N generated a hypnotic image where pixels are coded four million decimal places in the Pi number. It seems that no one has written down the mathematical constant this way (UPD: as it turned out, the idea is not new ).

In October 2011, American student Alexander Yi and Japanese researcher Sieger Kondo didn’t set a new record and calculated Pi to 10 trillion decimal places. For the calculation, 44 TB of disk space was used, and another 7.6 TB was needed to store the results in a compressed form.

In the TWO-N applet, four million first decimals are encoded. The picture is scaled, you can see the legend with numbers. There is a search for arbitrary sequences.

By the way, studio TWO-N sells color posters with the first million pixels — it turns out you can even earn money on Pi.
