SILVIA chat bot will breathe life into gadgets
At the Techcrunch40 conference in San Francisco, representatives of the Cognitive Code startup announced the creation of a new generation of chat bots that can effectively analyze the text and really determine its meaning. The company has already registered 15 patents on the technologies of intellectual processing of natural language.
As is known, maintaining a conversation with a person is one of the most difficult tasks that have been fought over for decades by developers of artificial intelligence systems. A special Loebner Prize chat bots contest is held annually, where the best programs of this kind compete. Among the winners of recent years are the famous chat bots Alice and Jabberwacky . However, the new SILVIA chat bot (symbolically isolated, linguistically variable intelligence algorithm) from Cognitive Code surpasses competitors in several important ways at once.
First, when conducting a conversation with a person, SILVIA understands and takes into account the context of the conversation, including the previous replicas of the interlocutor.

Secondly, the program is able to comprehend concepts that are formulated in different words. During the conversation, when analyzing the text, she translates words into conceptual data, which are placed in her short-term memory (information about the current conversation) or in long-term memory. Moreover, SILVIA can turn conceptual data back into natural language text while generating unique sentences. In addition to the usual conversation, the program can also perform other actions, for example, search the Internet, send emails, open and close documents on the computer. Other programs for voice control of a computer are only capable of such a direct command.
The developers are confident that the SILVIA algorithms will find application in many devices, such as mobile phones. However, for a start, the company Cognitive Code is going to conquer the market of children's toys.
