Russia Tower

On September 18, a solemn laying of the first stone in the foundation of the Tower of Russia took place - the building which project was created by the architectural bureau Fosters + Partners . The construction promises by 2012 (the planned completion date) to become the tallest tower in Europe and the second tallest in the world after Burj Dubai .

The height of the tallest skyscraper in Europe will be 612 meters. For comparison, the tallest skyscraper built is the Taipei 101 tower - “only” 508 meters high.

The useful area of the building is 520,800 square meters. The height of the upper floor is 500 meters. The number of ground floors is 118. The number of parking spaces is 3,680. The number of elevators in the building is 101. The mini-city can accommodate up to 25,000 people.

The tower of Russia, moreover, is the tallest building in the world with natural ventilation. Special photovoltaic cells produce such amount of energy, which is enough to illuminate the entire office space of a skyscraper during the year. So this is also the so-called “green” project.

The tower will be a multifunctional complex - it will house office space, a hotel, apartments, an underground shopping center and all kinds of leisure facilities. The maximum efficiency of the structure is ensured by its triangular plan: three “arms”, tapering towards the top, are connected by a central axis, which runs along the entire height of the building.

Excessive thermal energy generated by the office part of the building will heat its other segments in the winter, and the low temperature of the underground premises will allow the ground part to be cooled in the summer - all this through a thoughtful water circulation.

This is not the only Foster + Partners project in Russia. However, there are no constructed objects yet - this is explained not only by the complex design solutions of the bureau, but also by the high cost of the projects developed by it. According to preliminary estimates, the construction of the Tower of Russia will cost the company ST Towers, owned by Shalva Chigirinsky, at $ 2 billion. The owner of the company does not exclude that the investment may exceed the stated amount. For comparison: the entire first stage of the Moscow-City MIBC is estimated at 9 billion.
