Today Sony has officially announced the launch of its photo storage service - PlayMemories Online. The very same launch will take place next week.
At the start of the service will be available only to residents of Japan, USA, Canada, Germany, France and the UK. For now, 5 gigabytes will be provided. Citizens of the Russian Federation while in flight. ')
This service will allow people to quickly share their photos and videos thanks to the PlayMemories Home app (available for Windows and iOS). For those who actively use smartphones and tablets, an application for Android (play.google.com) will be available.
The photo can either be uploaded to the Web, or shared for viewing using Sony Bravia TVs or digital photo frames. Some Sony cameras equipped with Wi-Fi can transfer data directly to a tablet or smartphone.
Sony spends quite a lot of resources and time on this venture in order to try to connect all its products through the Web, as a competitor did - Apple using iCloud.
In addition, Sony expects to turn more on gaming platforms. For example, in March, a new photo editing package for PS3 was announced, which will also allow PlayMemories Online to be used.
