If you remember, the mini-computer Raspberry Pi is sold in two versions, for $ 25 and $ 35. This is probably the cheapest miniature PC in the world. However, the success of Raspberry Pi has prompted other manufacturers to create similar computers. The company Mele introduced its own version of the mini-PC, which can become a competitor to the Raspberry Pi.
True, the initial cost of the Mele A1000 is not 25, not 35, but 70 US dollars. Here you need to specify the time that reduces the cost of such a PC to $ 15 - manufacturers hope to gradually reduce the price of their computer with an increase in the "circulation" of the models sold. So, if Mele A1000 were sold in the amount of 100 thousand pieces, its cost would be only $ 15.

The device configuration is more interesting than the Raspberry Pi. Here we have an A10 ARM Cortex-A8 processor with a core frequency of 1 GHz (instead of 700 MHz for the Raspberry Pi). There are also several additional ports, including HDMI, VGA, USB, Ethernet + the ability to connect an external SATA drive. And yes, this PC has a case, which is not the case with the Raspberry Pi.
Now a group of enthusiasts is working to create an open and free software platform for this computer (based on Linux), which will ensure the operation of the device without the use of proprietary drivers. The same software platform, as developers hope, can later be used on other devices, including tablets, laptops, desktop PCs and onboard PCs of cars.
Developers can also make this PC even more “advanced”, but then the price will be a little higher - up to $ 100. And in this case, the Mele A1000 can hardly be called a competitor to the Raspberry Pi.
