Unemployed game designer made a model of the solar system on the Unreal engine



Seven-year Canadian game developer Christopher Albeluhn has lost his job, but not optimism. In his spare time, he began to make a project that was supposed to strengthen his portfolio - the Earth model on the Unreal game engine.

But then it suffered: first the Moon appeared, then the Sun, other planets of the Solar System, their satellites, the asteroid belt, the gravitational field with the space-time geometry, and finally Christopher could not resist adding all the existing 88 constellations. As a result, after a couple of months of work, this resulted in a stunningly beautiful model of the solar system . Although the work has not yet been completed, Christopher's neighbor in the room secretly posted a video on Youtube , and he was unexpectedly popular, having collected 50 thousand views a day.

Now the author is raising money for the end of work: a link to a project in the microfinance system of independent development Indiegogo. Specifically, the money is needed for licensing the engine, creating the site, porting the application for iOS and Android. The author also wants to add artificial satellites to the program, including all NASA vehicles and their routes.

Christopher does not know who will need this program. Perhaps it can be used for educational purposes. The author says that he was making a model for the soul, he just wanted to “give the world what he wanted, as a child.” This example shows that even alone you can create great things.

If the application ever comes out, it will compete with other 3D navigators in the Solar System, like Brian Cox's Wonders of the Universe and Eyes on the Solar System .

At the moment, the author collected $ 2,251 of the required $ 8,000 at the end of the project (12 hours ago it was $ 1,056, so the pace is good).
