The new company will be formed on the basis of the Interoperability Strategy division, which recently worked on such projects as HTML5, HTTP 2.0, cloud standards in DMTF and OASIS, Node.js, MongoDB, Phonegap / Cordova, etc.

At the same time, a separate company will be able to work more flexibly and quickly with external projects - and will represent a kind of bridge between Microsoft and non-Microsoft technologies.

As an example of such a “bridge” Paoli cited the use of MongoDB in the Windows Azure cloud service. Microsoft offers this bundle to users. In addition, Microsoft is now encouraging the use on its platform of open products such as Linux, Hadoop, Drupal, Joomla, and others.
