Viva France! "The law on inaccessible books of the twentieth century"

According to the Law on Inaccessible Books of the Twentieth Century adopted by the National Assembly and approved by the Senate in March 2012 ( “La loi sur livres indisponibles du XXème siècle” ), the French state decided to begin digitizing hundreds of thousands of books by French writers without asking their permissions. First of all, books published before the beginning of the 20th century will be digitized.

The law provides that right holders may withdraw books from the project within six months. After that, they are given two years for the book to reappear on the market. If the right holder does not fulfill this requirement, the book will be re-entered into the project and will be digitized.

The law is interesting in that the focus is not on a mossless copyright law, but on the rights of readers. It's no secret that in many countries the problem is with the old books, which are preserved piece by piece, which no one wants to republish, and even Google has problems with digitization due to the greed of the copyright holders.
