Music players in Android

At some point I was tired of constantly recording discs to listen to them in the car on the road. Of course, to change the radio tape recorder that supports flash drives / cards / bluetooth is an option, but it was a pity to part with the true “Pioneer”, which in terms of sound quality will give odds to many modern low-cost devices. But I have HTC Desire, which with the help of simple manipulations was connected to the radio through the line input and the music is always with me, whether I'm in the car or with my headphones with light, you can always listen to where you left off. And the problem of choice has come - what to play music with ?!

Initial requirements

He did not set strict quality requirements, and such testing is often subjective. Therefore, I will not compare the sound of different players.
I was interested in more convenience of use and some chips, such as: searching for covers on the Internet, controlling from Lockscreen , turning off music when disconnecting a headset, pausing to play when calling or turning on voice recognition, convenient control (rewinding, previous, next track, album) without small elements and a large number of clicks.

As it turned out, there are still a lot of interesting pieces, which I did not even guess. For example, group albums into folders, and not try to present a collection as a whole bunch of different albums.

Player cyanogenmod

“Standard”, for CyanogenMod firmware, player. Copes with its responsibilities on a solid top three. The main disadvantages - does not download album art, does not start playback after a call, only stops, does not group songs into folders, is not a very informative lock screen widget.
Widget two: 4x1 and 4x2, both with a cover of the album.

Total: simple, understandable, but not very functional. There is a built-in (rather in the firmware) equalizer with various settings for the headset, speaker and bluetooth.

³ (Cube) player

Quite an interesting player externally, the basic concept of navigation in which is the rotation of the cube. Up, down - albums, right, left - alphabetical index (Russian does not know). He knows how to download covers from the Internet, however, he hung up a couple of times when downloading, he had to kill. The covers themselves are able to show not only in their original form, but also with the use of (useless) effects - “earthquake” (in the screenshot) and halftones (it is better not to try!). It can show compositions not only with a cube, but also with simple squares, vertical cover flow (probably, that there would be no questions from Apple).
The rewinding of the composition is inconveniently organized - it is necessary to guess and poke somewhere in the field below, where as the playback plays, the area is hatched (4th screen from left to right), and the current time or length of the composition is not supposed to be known at all. Lockscreen widget is there, but to put it mildly meager. Widgets not found. Somewhere in the wilds of settings, you can even find an equalizer. Able to pause when calling.

Total: the idea is interesting, the implementation pumped up. Not very stable work (this is with a 2GB media library) with covers and a rather non-obvious control.

doubleTwist Player

A truly beautiful and detail-made player. Prada all parts are available only for money. Although try to download covers gives in test mode. But already an equalizer, alas.
Albums group failed. Otherwise, everything is beautiful, functional. There are a couple of options for widgets, there is a simple but functional lockscreen, although it does not know how to remove the native blocker, it turns out you need to unlock it twice. Able to pause.

The player itself is completely free to download , but, as mentioned above, without additional features. In addition, plug-ins to the player for AirPlay and AirSync are available from the same developer, for money naturally.

Total: interesting, quite convenient, but little functionality and settings.

MortPlayer Music

Honestly, there is even nothing to see here. Put by chance, on the advice of the comments on the market Google Play. With the loading of the covers, everything is sad, I hardly understand the navigation, there is loxcreen, but it's scary, there is advertising.
True, it was the first player in the review that can show a picture of the album in the notification panel. Trifle, but nice. When you click in the panel, the application does not open the player itself, but shows such a pop-up control unit. Also an interesting decision. There are no built-in widgets, but it seems that you can add an addition from the author from Pleya.
It is completely free to download , although the author can be immediately thanked for all the software by purchasing one application.

Total: every time I get lost - how to go to the list of albums, how to return. In general, convenience is not for me, but the appearance must also be brought to mind.

n7player music player

Another player found by chance (Google Play search is looking for everything except what he has to find), which implements a very interesting idea. Unfortunately, as often happens with interesting ideas, the implementation let us down. With difficulty, making his way through the processor load to 100% made screenshots, whether scanning causes such difficulties for the player, or loading the covers, or maybe he still doesn’t like something, but use it.
What's interesting about it - the start screen is a kind of tag cloud - performers, and with a multi-touch gesture, you can increase the content and consider in more detail what songs this artist has.
The loxcreen screen is very beautifully decorated, the widgets are decorated in the same style. Not only the album cover, but also the pause / rewind buttons are shown in the notification panel!

Download and try it for free. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it work, maybe you’ll get better.

Total: very beautiful, original, convenient in principle, although not quite perfect for my needs. Definitely recommend to put and try.

PlayerPro Music Player

One of the recommended players in many places. A 7-day trial version, fully functional, is available for free.
Outwardly handsome, the cover downloaded almost everything, besides he also uploaded photos of the performers. In the notification panel can show the cover. The control buttons are large, the scroll bar is clearly visible. The thing is, to control the car. It has a built-in equalizer, though presets to it must be downloaded separately from Google, for free. There are also a number of additional skins and plug-ins.
It contains in its arsenal as many as two types of lock screen, one better than the other. And pieces of 5 widgets for every taste and size.
Of the interesting chips - automatically start playback when a headset is connected. Shaking tracks (in the car, yeah). A huge number of options for setting the lock screen, the appearance of the player and anything else. Do not even talk about the pause mode for calls. The ability to intercept control playback from the standard loxgrin Cyanogen.

Total: you can say almost perfect player. If only he could not show all the songs from the collection, as different albums. And sometimes, after pressing the pause, it reproduces a low rattle. The latter can be attributed to custom firmware.

Winamp

Frankly, I have long believed that Winamp is no longer a cake. But he couldn’t not look. Outwardly simple, although not obvious in some places, and in some places even confused and incomprehensible. In general, I do not share the opinion of the editor of the resource "Android Police".

Albums shows, like everything, the cover seems to be shaking, loxgrin is simple and clear, there are widgets like everywhere else. If you want an equalizer - please buy the full version. Something else about synchronization with all that is possible, perhaps, but for me it is not a decisive factor.

Total: boring and there is no cool idea why it should be bought. Perhaps the owners of the desktop version is really more convenient to work with him, but not for me. Like the previous player, wheezed during a pause.

Poweramp

And here he is, here, the player of my dreams. Almost. So, what interesting developers offer? It was the first player who realized that my collections do not need to be shown as a bunch of separate songs, but can be combined into folders. Almost all the covers downloaded independently and only with a few exceptions, you need to go in and manually set a search, so that there would be a large number of options for manual selection. In addition, you can edit the tags of compositions. There are several options for the presentation of albums, folders, compositions - tiles, list, tree. The controls are large and clear, you can switch tracks on the cover by swipe.
The richest sound settings. Here and 10-band equalizer with built-in presets and preamplifier, loudness and limiter, separate tuning of bass and treble, balance and stereo widening.
And most of the settings are available directly from the main screen of the player. And if some controls are pressed and held, then all possible options of this element will appear.
Almost perfect lock screen widget. There is everything you need and even more, just like in the player, a swap works to change tracks. Several widgets of different sizes, which also have everything you need. And the widgets can also be downloaded separately, so that when the player is installed on the card, they continue to work.

You can download a trial full-featured version. Full version for a small fee, but to be honest, it is worth the money.

Total: an excellent player with rich settings and functionality. A small spoon of tar dropped today, when for some reason the player hung the whole system. Still sinning on an unstable firmware version. And during a pause during a call, the volume is somehow not very pleasantly changing - not a smooth fade or immediately off, but a jump in a loud sound. But these little things are compensated by the convenience and subjective sound quality.
