Mozilla developers introduced Firefox build with WebRTC support and browser video chat
A small group of Mozilla developers recently attended an IETF 83 conference in Paris. The developers presented a browser-based video chat, which does not require specialized software to run - only the Firefox browser. True, a special build of this browser, with support for WebRTC, was used specifically for the chat.
According to the development team, this is still a very early version of the WebRTC implementation in Firefox, but everything works surprisingly well. Mozilla has been working on the issue of browser socialization for quite some time, so to speak. Recently, it was decided to use WebRTC to create a video call system (as a demonstration of the capabilities of the "new" Firefox), without the need to install special software. Video chat, according to experts, can only be used by logged in users (login via BrowserID or Person, as it is now called). ')
According to the developers, over the next few months, WebRTC will gradually integrate with Firefox, until an optimal result is obtained. There is really a lot of work, but all Mozilla specialists are interested in this. Video chat, in fact, learned to be functional, no problems were noticed during his work.
