Digium IP phones overview

The ATC Design company is the authorized reseller and partner of Digium in Russia.



More recently, Digium announced the release of its own IP phones, it took only a couple of weeks and they came to us in Russia.

Let me remind you that the series of phones includes the following models:

• D70 The most "advanced" version with a huge display, support for six lines and 10 speed dialing keys (BLF). As well as the built-in additional LCD panel will be able to display real-time information about the existing contacts, their status, status, etc. And with the help of navigation buttons, you can expand the list to 100 subscribers.
• D50 phone midrange. Four lines and 10 remote keys of contacts. The difference from the D70 model is that the display is not interactive and the inscriptions are entered in the old manner - with a pencil. The phone will be ideal for those who spend a lot of time talking.
• D40 Telephone primary class with two lines. The best price / quality ratio.

The phones are identical in functionality: they support: PoE, HD Voice technology, and differ only in the presence of an additional expansion panel. I think it makes sense to review the most expensive model, and you will conduct an analogy with the budget option yourself.


Digium claims that these phones are specifically designed to unlock the potential of Asterisk and the Switchvox unified communications system .

Having connected the device to the network, after a minute, the IP phone reported that he saw the office telephony server and asked to enter a PIN code.

This password is independently set in the Switchvox admin panel.

But if you configure a lot of phones, it is better to disable this feature, and eliminate unnecessary gestures.



Further, in the web interface of the Switchvox communications system, the device was customized. An internal subscriber number has been entered, and a well-known logo has been used to all of us. Everything else D70 "pumped" in yourself yourself ...

Digium phones come with built-in applications:

A built-in JavaScript API will allow you to connect any additional application.



Separately, I want to focus on status management.

Digium implemented call routing control based on status in the Switchboard, which is integrated with the Jabber client.

And now you can change it through Jabber-client, user’s personal account, switchboard operator panel, and also Digium phone.

I think it makes no sense to talk about practical implementation, since everything is limited only by your imagination.



A nice plastic, high-quality display - all this relates the devices to the High End class. There are no problems with sound quality either. Full setup and provisioning in 2-3 minutes is what any system administrator dreams of. Of course, the BLF is tuned and works without any problems.

The manufacturer left on the back panel an interface for connecting an additional panel, a headset, 2 LAN, EHS, and also a USB port.

Prices in Russia are $ 321 / $ 206 / $ 148, respectively, for models D70 / D50 / D40 . In my opinion - this is a bit, because phones of the closest competitors (Cisco, Snom, AddPac), which are similar in capabilities, are clearly more expensive.
