Miro player developers are asking for money for democracy

One of the most promising and technologically advanced projects in the field of Internet TV Miro (formerly Democracy Player) turned for help to all users. Developers from the nonprofit organization PCF admitted that their financial resources are coming to an end. They set a goal of collecting $ 50,000 in September. The money will go to pay for the services of talented hackers who will make regular software updates under Windows, Linux and Mac. In the very near future, the first official release of the program will be released, which, incidentally, still works fine in version 0.9.9.1 ( download ).

The creators of Miro explain how important their development is for humanity: “Large corporations spend millions of dollars trying to create a monopoly in the field of Internet video and restrict their users' access to video materials. They want to make all creators use their proprietary software and implement Digital Rights Management (DRM) to limit people's ability. ” The Miro player is the exact opposite, it supports free video playback in any format, a subscription to RSS video from Youtube and 1500 other sources (new channels are added every day), downloading files using the BitTorrent protocol.

Since the publication of the request for help three days ago, more than $ 5,000 has already been raised. You can make a donation from a credit card, via Paypal or Google Checkout.
