ICANN conference organizer caught in sexism

Last month, at the ICANN conference in Costa Rica, lawyer John Berrihill drew the attention of ICANN to the content of printed materials produced by CZ.NIC - the administrator of the Czech national domain, one of the main organizers of the next ICANN conference to be held in Prague this June.

Berryhill complained about the content of the advertising cards, which illustrate what is worth visiting for the conference in Prague: good beer, attractions, cultural events and ... girls.

Berryhill argues that these postcards demean women and are sexist.

At a conference in Costa Rica, his words were not taken seriously and were practically not discussed, but the postcard images quickly dispersed on the Internet and caused a strong reaction from the community.

As ICANN's authorized representative Chris Lahatt, CZ.NIC, reported yesterday, in order to avoid scandal, without hesitation he removed the controversial postcard from the sale. Representatives of CZ.NIC said that they did not see anything wrong with a jolly postcard depicting an attractive girl saying “See you in Prague!” But they also agree to take another point of view - the fact that such a postcard can hurt someone’s feelings, besides, the charge of sexism can be at risk of litigation.
