Yandex launches disk

We did not have time to calm down the news about the imminent launch of Google Drive and the increase in space for invited users on Dropbox , as today, on April 5, 2012, Yandex introduced its Yandex.Disk cloud storage service.

Yandex.Disk allows you to store files of any format on a remote server, including music, photos, movies and documents. Each user has 10 gigabytes of space.

Access to the file can be obtained from a computer and from a mobile device with an internet connection. In addition, files can be “shared” with other users.

For computers based on Windows and Mac OS X, the Yandex.Disk client has been released. Owners of devices on Android and iOS can work with the disk through the application "Yandex. Mail". File storage is also available via the web interface.

Yandex.Disk also stores attachments from the user's email in Yandex.Mail. Under them allocated extra space. In the future, “Yandex” plans to link the “Disk” with its other services.

Now Yandex.Disk operates in the closed beta version with access by invitation. To receive an invitation, you must specify your email address on the website disk.yandex.ru. “Yandex” specifies that the invitations will receive the first “several tens of thousands of users,” who left the application.

In addition to “Disk”, “Yandex” owns the file hosting “Yandeks.Narod”, where you can store files with a weight of up to five gigabytes each. However, Yandex.Narod does not provide the data synchronization service.
