Facebook filed a counterclaim against Yahoo

Now everyone is suing everyone, often, and as far as can be understood, with pleasure. Once on Habré, infographics jumped through, displaying direct and counterclaims of large IT companies relative to each other. Arrows there was a lot. Well, now add a couple more, because the Yahoo v. Facebook process promises to be protracted. Some time ago, Yahoo filed a lawsuit against Facebook, accusing a social network of violating a dozen patents. Without thinking twice, Facebook lawyers decided to file a counterclaim.

Social Network No. 1 decided to blame Yahoo for violating its own patents, including technologies such as data tagging, some ways of sending and receiving messages, and others. In addition to these charges, Facebook requires Yahoo to withdraw the lawsuit, denying all charges. Interestingly, Facebook’s lawsuit against Yahoo mentions such services of the latest company as Yahoo Finance, Sports, News, Games, Movies, Shopping, Travel and even Flicker as “violators”.

In its lawsuit, Facebook also mentions some of the advertising technologies used by Yahoo. But Yahoo receives from advertising about 80% of all revenues. So, if the court will side with Facebook, Yahoo may not be well. However, for Facebook, all these trials are also not particularly desirable. The fact is that the company is going to enter the IPO, and the court can significantly reduce the financial performance of Facebook.

The proceedings between the companies began in February of this year, and all this will continue for a long time. In any case, such processes in most cases are delayed for weeks, months and even years.
