Automated copying of 3.5 "Arduino based floppies

Probably, on Habré there are several other people who have to deal with floppy disks, at least sometimes. Most of us have forgotten these storage media, like a bad dream, going to modern, more capacious and reliable flash drives, CDs, cloud storage. But there are people who still have any valuable data stored on diskettes (the source of "Prince of Persia" on diskettes was recently found, yeah).

So, there was a craftsman who was able to create an automatic copier of floppy disks, and this is quite advanced. The insertion, copying and removal of a floppy disk takes place in a fully automatic mode, so there is no need to worry about the long time to copy data from a floppy disk. It works all on the basis of Arduino. Video of the device can be found below.

The principle is not very complicated. You just need to insert a stack of floppy disks, and leave. Diskettes will be inserted one by one into the drive, followed by copying the data. After that, each diskette is photographed so that it is clear where everything is copied from. Immediately after the operation is completed, the diskette is ejected from the drive.

Copying a floppy in time is about 3-4 minutes, which, of course, is not very fast. But, as mentioned above, the process does not require human intervention, so time does not matter. I would also like to know how the device reacts to damaged floppy disks.

Detailed information about this device can be found here: Dweller .
