Bmorn V99 Tablet Review

Purpose of purchase

We decided to give tablets of our son's grandmothers so that they could always be caught in Skype and that they could read our private blog easily and naturally.

Grandfathers, of course, have already mastered computers for a long time, but grandmothers are a little afraid of such complex devices, and the tablet, nevertheless, is simpler.

We decided that for our purposes any Chinese device would be suitable. Moreover, the reviews on them, in general, are not bad.

Choice and price

The choice fell on MOMO11 Bird, which was immediately ordered on aliexpress.com. The purchase cost 237USD , of which:
198,99USD - the tablet itself,
20USD - charger, protective film and simple case (for some reason, the charger is not included in the base cost of the device),
23,08USD - delivery to Pattaya (we were in Thailand at the time),
-5USD is a coupon received when you register on AliExpress.

But soon the seller unsubscribed that the manufacturer had some problems with the screens on these devices and while they stopped sales. Instead offered Bmorn V99. According to the characteristics, he arranged for us, the price was the same as that of MOMO, and we agreed to a replacement.

Delivery

The order on the website was issued on February 28, on March 4 it was transferred to EMS, on the 8th it was already in Bangkok, and only on March 15 they brought a notice that you can pick it up at the Thailand Post central office in Pattaya.

The voids of the parcel box were filled with polystyrene, the box with the device itself was wrapped with 1 layer of pimply film. Everything arrived safely and securely, only one corner of the box stuck a bit.

Appearance and equipment

In the box lay:
- the tablet,
- HDMI cable (1.5 m),
- headphones,
- micro USB cable type B -> USB type A,
- adapter micro USB type B -> USB socket type A,
- stylus
- instruction and warranty card in Chinese,
- 220V charger + adapter under the "euro" (I asked about it in the comments to the order),
- protective film,
- cover.

The last 3 positions are not included in the basic package and are selected separately.

Externally, the tablet looks quite normal.

Buttons and connectors

At the top end is the off key and headphone jack.



On the right side - the menu key and volume rocker.



At the bottom there are all the connectors (power - DC, micro USB, micro USB OTG, HDMI), a memory card slot (micro SD), the "Home" button, microphone holes and speakers.



On the left side is empty.



The front camera is located in the lower right corner, the rear - in the lower left (as viewed from behind).

The case is plastic, not of very high quality: with a slight twisting, it crunches, even when you just hold it in your hands, you feel that it “walks” under your fingers a little. When pressing with fingers on the middle of the back surface of the case, it is easy to bend and rests against the board.

The device arrived completely discharged. Turn-on time was about 35 seconds (Android 4.0.3).

Screen

The screen is bright. At any angle, the image can be seen well.

Camera

Both cameras leave much to be desired. Here is an example of a picture obtained under artificial lighting using this tablet:

The image is very dark, the settings could not be improved.

Another problem occurred while trying to make a video call via Skype. The video on the tablet is displayed normally, but the opponent sees instead of the image some solid pink stripes:



I signed with the seller about this, he said that such a problem with video calls exists when using Android 4, and if you install version 2, everything will be ok. I have not tried to reinstall yet.

Tests

It feels like the device works quite normally. Some serious brakes are not observed.

Battery

Full testing did not hold. With a rather intense load (video, music, surfing), it lasts about 8 hours of work.

Communications

WiFi works without problems throughout the house.

Headphones, microphone, USB connectors - everything works without complaints.

Micro SD tried only 1Gb (the other was not at hand) - reads and writes without problems.

Games and videos

Angry Birds do not slow down, the video also plays fine.

Total

Pros:
- high-quality screen,
- not bad performance
- availability of communication ports,
- price.

Minuses:
- flimsy case,
- not working video in the version of "out of the box."
