IBM Science and Technology Center in Moscow

Since 2006, Moscow has been operating (and to be precise, it has been functioning in the past tense, and then you will understand why) the IBM laboratory. Immediately after its discovery, it became an integral part of IBM's research and development network around the world, where work concentrated in the following areas: development, testing and support of server equipment, work with system and intermediate levels software, which primarily works on large computers.

The decision to open an international research laboratory in Moscow was made at the highest level within IBM due to the high dynamics of the development of the domestic economy, as well as the initially high level of training. The IBM System z architecture or mainframe technology has become one of the main focus areas in the IBM lab.

Over time, the Moscow laboratory expanded the scope of its own design and began to participate in other projects: high-performance computing, the development of cloud technologies, nanomolecular research. All this, without mentioning the direct work on the development of IBM products: Rational, Tivoli, WebSphere, Information Management.

For 5 years, this laboratory managed to accumulate enough experience so that in December 2011, after signing a cooperation agreement with the Skolkovo Foundation, it would be possible to transform the laboratory into the IBM Scientific and Technical Center.

STC is located on the territory of the former laboratory, becoming its full-fledged successor: it is working on previous projects started in the laboratory, as well as research is being conducted in the field of technologies for working with intelligent oil fields, NFC and improving road safety by creating specialized analytical and predictive products.
