Microsoft crossed SPDY and WebSockets

Microsoft has published its proposal for the future of HTTP 2.0, which is currently being discussed in the IETF working group. Their draft is called HTTP Speed + Mobility .

As you know, Google proposes to take as a basis HTTP 2.0 the SPDY protocol , with the help of which you can significantly increase the speed of loading sites via HTTP. Microsoft experts agree with this, but in their version they added HTML5 WebSockets API snippets. In their opinion, this is especially useful for the mobile web. "We think that applications - and not just browsers - should also become faster," wrote Jean Paoli, general manager of Microsoft Compatibility Strategy, in the official blog.

SPDY co-author Mike Belshe spoke positively about colleagues from Microsoft, expressed hope for further cooperation and the emergence of an open source implementation of their protocol. However, he noted that the thesis "SPDY is not optimized for mobile devices" is not true. Belshe himself is now working at Twist, which is developing mobile applications with optimization for SPDY. For example, here is the implementation of SPDY under the iPhone (github).
