Pirate party passed to the parliament of another German land

Pirate Party has strengthened its position in the political arena of Germany. In September 2011, 8.9% of the citizens of Berlin voted for it, which allowed them to get 15 seats in the local parliament (out of 141). And now a new success. On March 25, the party won 7.4% and 4 seats in parliament (out of 51) in the Saar elections.

Saar is a small land in southwest Germany, bordering France and Luxembourg. Thus, the progressive political movement confirmed its popularity not only in the capital, but also in the provinces, among ordinary Germans. Apparently, the Berlin elections were not accidental, and now we can expect that the Pirates will infiltrate the parliaments of all municipal lands of Germany, and then - in the Bundestag.

The Pirate Party of Germany stands for the observance of civil rights on the Internet and telephony, for the reform of copyright, the discovery on the Internet of all information on the activities of public services (with open API) and the introduction of Open Source into the public system. Founded September 10, 2006 on the model of the Swedish Pirate Party. The main audience is well-educated men younger than 30 years old, students, IT specialists.
