I do not
luddit . I understand that AJAX allows you to more quickly view more content while saving traffic and time. But most of the implementations of autoloading from my point of view have a number of significant drawbacks.
This post is mainly about social networks, but about ordinary sites that can be viewed without registering and which use auto-uploading of news, reviews, reviews. Writing a post spodvig
this site .
I don’t like auto uploading new items to the page because:
')
1) It does not give an understanding of the number of pages of the site.
Primitive manipulation, so that a person would watch and watch, not knowing how much time he still has to spend on it. As soon as you look through the page and are ready to do something else, the pseudo-friendly site loads a new page.
Without autoloader, I always know how many pages I have looked at, how much I want to see and how many of them all, and here I am held by a donkey in front of which the carrot is tied. Before me is the unknown. It creates the feeling that browsing this site will never end. And I do not like sites so much to watch them for days. Even social networks.
2) There is no guarantee that links and news available through autoload are indexed in search engines. Suppose the last 10 elements are shown on the page, another 20 were published in the break between the robot visits, the robot will see only the last 10 and the penultimate 10 will not be indexed. If your site is not Twitter and does not have a special agreement with Google, then you should not rely on 100% indexing. A slight increase in indexing chances is the availability of RSS.
In relation to the example site, we have 170 pages indexed out of more than 240, which is less than
71% of the pages.
3) If the site has pages, then besides giving a direct link, I can always tell someone: you are there on the N-page, on the M-spot. And if autoload: you turn the page and look more attentively. Apparently, therefore, in search results, AJAX autoloading is rarely used.
4) For navigation, having just one autoloader is a disaster. Instead of large leaps to get into the area of interest you have to twist and twist. (thanks for the
vk2 hint )
If we draw an analogy with books, then there were scrolls at first, then books with page numbers, and then someone guessed to fasten an electric motor to the scroll and the type of number is no longer needed. Want to get into the tape for 2 years ago - screw a small motor to the wheel of the mouse and go drink coffee.
Bottom line : you should not use technology everywhere just because it is fashionable. And if used, it is better with the active approval of the user, so that he can see how many pages he has viewed and how many of them.
