Synology has announced a RackStation RS812 + and RS812RP +, 4-disk rack-mount NAS servers that are targeted at small and medium businesses. New models are characterized by high performance, scalability and reliability.

Among the main features of both models should be noted the technology of passive CPU cooling system, the availability of redundant fans and support for two LAN ports. All this allows you to eliminate a single point of failure and increases the time of continuous stable operation of the system. A feature of the RS812RP + model is a backup power supply, which provides an additional degree of reliability and uninterrupted operation. The RS812 + and RS812RP + network drives have the option of “hot swapping” hard drives, as well as the special design of easy and fast access to the motherboard modules. This whole set of measures improves the performance of the system and increases the ease of maintenance.


Synology RS812 + and RS812RP + NAS servers are based on a dual-core processor with 2.13 GHz frequency and are equipped with 1 GB RAM. Such a powerful hardware platform allows these network drives to show excellent performance by reading data at a speed of 202.31 MB / s and writing 175.11 MB / s when operating in the RAID 5 storage array mode and activated by the network port aggregation function (Link Aggregation).

With the ability to connect to Synology RS812 + and RS812RP + Synology RX410 expansion modules, users can scale network drives up to 8 drives. The possibility of increasing the RAM up to 3 GB is also provided. Having the most complete iSCSI support makes it possible to build comprehensive storage solutions for core server virtualization platforms, including VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper-V.
