Recently it became known that Sony decided to patent a new technology that will allow the user to be identified by fingerprint. That is, when you click on the display, the phone will “understand” whether it is the owner or the “guest”. The patent describes a new type of display, where you can place special sensors, which remove the "picture" with a finger.
It’s impossible to tell the difference between an ordinary display and a touchscreen, so it’s unlikely that a “smart” display can be distinguished from an ordinary display. Unfortunately, it is not yet known when the corporation will be able to launch the technology “into people”. So far, only the application has been filed, and it is unclear when it will be implemented.

This identification system, according to the corporation, will be used not so much so that the owner can easily unlock the phone, as for identification in electronic payment systems. For example, in NFC. Here, a PIN code is now used, but in the case of the introduction of a new payment system, it will be possible to work without any passwords and pin codes.
According to the developers, for the introduction of new technology will have to change the technology of production of displays, but the change in technology will not affect the price of the display. By the way, trial models of mobile devices with fingerprint identification technology have already been released. But in these test devices, for example, Motorola Mobility Altrix, ordinary sensors were used, and not modified displays.
