The news, in general, is not news for a long time, but old age, however, was not mentioned in Habré. And since we are talking about a conceptual idea, which is unlikely to have become obsolete in the two weeks that I was going to write about it, the topic has a right to exist.
But the lyrics aside. The University of Technology of Atlanta in the United States announced the development of The Tongue Drive System (from English - language driving system). The new system is addressed to people with complete paralysis of the limbs, that is, those who cannot control a wheelchair, even with their hands. It is assumed that the development will give such disabled people the opportunity to move, driving the carriage with the help of language.
What is The Tongue Drive System, in fact, it is a system of sensors attached to the teeth and palate and a miniature magnetic indicator, fixed with the help of medical glue (or piercing) in the user's language. Using the tongue as a joystick, the person closes the contacts located on the teeth and controls the wheelchair. For example, pressing the tip of the tongue to the front teeth will push the wheelchair forward, to the teeth on the left - to the left turn, etc.

In addition to the stroller, the system can be adapted to work with a computer - in this case, touching the teeth will be used instead of mouse movements. The development team continues to increase the number of teams in order to allow people with disabilities to not only carry out simple actions, but also more or less work at the computer or play video games.
