Optional "Computer modeling of physical processes"
The post is relevant for Petersburg schoolchildren of 8-11 classes and their parents.
I , in parallel with the organization of the Center for Technical Creativity of Youth in St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University and the circle “Do it yourself!” In FML №239, I am engaged in scientific activities related to computer modeling of various physical processes: Brazilian test , vibratory drilling , artificial ceramics , I defended master's degree on the subject ( poster ).
Despite the complexity and knowledge-intensiveness of computer modeling, many of its aspects can be mastered by schoolchildren. This opens up a new way for students to solve physical problems (using programming); Teaches you how to correctly implement physical models in your programmer's work (for example, it will come in handy when creating your toys); but for someone computer modeling can be a future specialty.

At the moment there is a shortage of educational courses on the basics of computer modeling. In order to eliminate the void, it was decided to hold a short-term educational course during spring break (March 2012) at the Academy of Informatics for Schoolchildren , which would be an introduction to the topic of computer simulation of physical processes.
March 19-23, from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm (4 academic hours daily), total: 20 academic hours.
The elective program will not copy-paste it here .
Initial requirements for students: basic programming skills in Visual Basic or Pascal / PascalABC / Delphi; basic knowledge from the sections of physics "Kinematics" and "Dynamics" (it is desirable to understand what the equations of motion are and the second law of Newton).
The result of each student will be creative work in the field of computer modeling (for example, its own simple implementation of Angry Birds / Worms).
Total, according to the results of the elective course, students:

- systematize knowledge from sections of the school physics course ("Kinematics" and "Dynamics", as well as basic knowledge from the sections "Statics", "Electromagnetism", "Optics");
- familiar with various methods of computer modeling, as well as real examples of their use;
- learn how to apply computer modeling techniques to solve physical problems from the Kinematics and Dynamics fields;
- perform attestation creative work (which can then be credited at school);
- will receive a certificate of passage of elective.
