PHPDocumentor teamed up with Docblox

Earlier I wrote about the emergence of a new PHP engine for automatic generation of Docblox documentation ( here and here ). Today I was surprised to find that now all the innovations from Docblox migrate to PHPDocumentor . The previous PHPDocumentor 1.x branch is now considered obsolete, and the main innovations will appear in the 2.x branch. Also updated the official website phpDocumentor. Here is the text of the message from the Docblox website:

Introducing phpDocumentor 2 - merging the old (phpDocumentor) and the new (DocBlox)

With the first alpha version of phpDocumentor (2.0.0a1), the “Responsive” template is introduced by default with a new look and useful design improvements added to the Docblox templates. Old phpDocumentor templates will not be used in the new branch and will be available only in version 1.x.x. An example of applying a new template is available at http://demo.phpdoc.org/Responsive/index.html .
')
What does this change mean for DocBlox and phpDocumentor users? The old phpDocumentor is retiring, and although there may be bugfixes in phpDocumentor 1.x, the main efforts will be made in the development of the 2.x branch. Therefore, when branch 2.0.0 becomes stable, the new version of phpDocumentor, which includes new functionality and fixes existing bugs will be released once a month.

The existing resources on DocBlox will receive a new design and will not be deleted, so current project participants can continue to work without additional formalities.

Discussion is also conducted on the #phpdocumentor channel in Freenode and on Twitter @phpDocumentor.

Well, let's hope that this merge will breathe new life into phpDocumentor.
