Microsoft patents gaming helmet with laser projection image

Companies, large and small, try to invent new and new technologies to help gamers to fully immerse themselves in the game world. So far, it has not come to the projection of consciousness into the game, but you can get your own mini-game universe. For example, Microsoft has filed a patent for a gaming helmet, images in which are projected by a laser beam for each eye. The projection does not go straight into the eye, but to the surface located in front of the eyeball.

These are not exactly video glasses, although this technology looks like something that already exists. In the end, new devices are often modified old ones. In this case, the image is formed from the projection that the laser beams create. All this is projected in a few centimeters from the eye. As a result, the eye adapts itself to see a high-quality picture.

Each projection is analogous to a 21-inch display with a 16: 9 ratio. This patent assumes the second possibility, by projecting not a complete image of the game world, but individual virtual objects. That is, the helmet carrier will receive an augmented reality, the possibilities of which are still being revealed. Probably no one will walk down the street in such a helmet, but you can come up with a game process based on augmented reality. Not so long ago, Google announced its intention to create "augmented reality" glasses, with similar functions.

How exactly Microsoft is going to “tie” its new helmet to already existing gaming devices is still unclear. But it is clear that in the event of the appearance of such a helmet, the gaming reality may undergo significant changes. Maybe this is a new step in the development of the gaming industry. Well, maybe just an interesting accessory. When the device is ready, it is unclear.
