Today, from 9:22 to 9:43 GMT, Amazon EC2 servers were unavailable in the US-EAST-1 default region (it is set when ordering servers by default, so I assume there are most servers) there were problems with the connection.
My Nagios just went crazy. Pindo - spammed with SMS. I was just offline and could only guess about this inevitable end of the world.
But the guys quickly repaired everything:

As they say, and the old woman is prorukha. Amazon didn’t share with the world exactly what problems they were experiencing, but some expensive and very important piece of hardware probably got stuck if the entire region fell off.
