Today, together with Auto.ru, we present the project Roads of Russia . Now users of mobile devices based on Android will be able to contribute to the solution of the age-old Russian problem - the quality of roads, and any Internet user will be able to check the condition of the road surface along the route of interest.
The project consists of two parts: the free app Roads of Russia for Android mobile devices and the website . Today, users can check the quality of the roads in seven cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Rostov-on-Don. Every day on the maps will appear more and more roads that motorists have traveled. You can be among them!

The mobile application automatically collects data on the quality of roads and displays them on the map in four colors: roads marked in green with good quality of coverage, yellow - with medium, red - with poor, and dark red - unsatisfactory. You will find this map on the rusdorogi.ru website, where service statistics are also available: the total mileage of the estimated roads, the quality diagram of the road surface, the dynamics and the rating of the arrival of new data by city.
How exactly does the mobile application work ? When you are driving in a car, your smartphone analyzes the vibration of the vehicle's suspension (it is better that the phone is mounted on the dashboard, but the application will work even if it is in your pocket). After that, the application sends data to the site server for further processing. Here's what it looks like:
When developing the application, we took care of saving battery power: the application uses an energy-efficient algorithm that disables GPS when it is not necessary.
