When will IPv4 end?

Hi, Habrachiteli.

In the IT community, this is a common and hackneyed topic: the transition to IPv6, when the last IPv4 will be issued, World IPv6 Day, etc. Nevertheless, the RIRs continue to successfully issue addresses, and with considerable blocks. How many addresses are left, read under the cut.

In order:
  1. On January 31, 2011, the last two non-reserved IANA address blocks were allocated by APNIC. Remained 5 reserved / 8.
  2. The last five networks / 8 were distributed between five LIRs on February 1, 2012.

Those. addresses ended at IANA. How many of them are left with the RIRs, I was not too lazy to count.

RIPE NCC

The RIPE NCC has 46,210,000 IPv4 addresses.

ARIN

image
1x / 8 = 16777214
5.04x / 8 = 5x / 8 + 0.04x / 8 = 84,557,158 IPv4 is available to ARIN.

APNIC

image
0.94x / 8 = 15,770,581 IPv4 with APNIC.

AfriNIC

2x / 8 + 0.875x / 8 + 0.715x / 8 + 0.2x / 8 = 65,585,640 IPv4 is in AfriNIC.

LACNIC

4.284362793x / 8 = 71,879,680 IPv4 for LACNIC.

Conclusion

If you add up the addresses that all RIRs have, it turns out 284,003,059 in the world. A lot or a little, judge for yourself. On the websites of each of the RIR there are statistics on IPv4 allocations. Knowing the trend, you can make assumptions. Subjective predictions do not publish in order to avoid trolling unnecessary discussions.
