March 1 was the
first Moscow Django Meetup . 25 people - both experienced developers and beginners only - listened to three reports and met other dzhangists.
A community is first of all communication, so the meeting began with the fact that all those who came told about themselves. Of the 25 people who were assembled by the first MoscowDjango, 6 people called themselves experienced developers (“Yes, I'm on django from the 0.9x version! :-)”). Many others were shy and began their greeting with the words "Well, if anyone here is the most beginner, then it's me ...". Among those who came were corporate developers, freelancers, and startupers; Ostrovok.ru, polit.ru, RussiaToday specialists and other companies.
The first with a
story about magazine layout was Alexey Dubkov. He made an excellent report on how to make the presentation of the material on the site more beautiful and interesting with a simple application on django.
After Alexey, Vladimir Yepifanov (Ostrovok.ru) spoke
about working with the console , without which there is nowhere to work with django. “Most of my work is to press the keys. I want to share my experience and maybe encourage someone to use the console. ” Vladimir highlighted both the general points and useful subtleties. He finished with a slide, “The Island needs more good pythonists”. Mock on a mustache, habrazhiteli!

The latest report is “
Django South. Database Migration ”presented by Nikolai Khodov. Nikolay talked about why South is used, what are its pros and cons. Disassembled in steps a non-trivial example of using South since deploying it on the server.
In general, a large number of practical examples and code listings were present in all reports, which is good news.
At the end of the evening a “question and answer session” began. Vladimir Yepifanov from Ostrovka as one of the most experienced django-developers present at the meeting was very popular - he answered questions and shared his experience. For a long time, however, this part did not drag out, since the HSE's audience did not dispose to sincere communication — the meeting at the bar was over, with beer, but this is no longer for the protocol.
We want to make MoscowDjango meetings regular, so the next meeting will take place on April 5th, participation is also free, but
you need to register .
If you already know what questions you want to ask, what would you like to tell, or do you want to help with the organization - write to Mikhail Korneev (korneevm@gmail.com) or Valentin Dombrovsky (dombrovsky.v@gmail.com).
PS We filmed the meeting on video, but
due to my crooked hands due to technical failure, it turned out with a dead sound. Next time I promise to fix it :)
