The official launch of ajaxWindows

The number of network operating systems is growing by leaps and bounds and has recently exceeded 20 pieces . Perhaps the most technologically advanced among them is ajaxWindows , the development of Michael Robertson, known for his former projects MP3.com and Lindows. Yesterday the official release of this system took place, which for some time was in beta status. “Today, I run ajaxWindows, an absolutely self-contained virtual PC,” writes Michael Robertson on his blog.

Supports drag and drop icons, navigate through folders, customize the menu, launch applications from the desktop. By pressing F11, the browser unfolds to full screen and creates the complete illusion of the usual operating system on the desktop. You can download all documents, bookmarks, contacts, wallpapers, even music files from personal PC ( synchronization screenshot ) to your remote “personal hard drive”, all of them are opened using web applications. The kit includes ajaxWrite text editor (with support for MS Word documents), ajaxPresents presentation editor, and many others. And the OS, and all programs, of course, completely free.

To store files, the system seamlessly uses popular web services, for example, music is stored on MP3tunes , and documents and other files are stored on Gmail hosting with 2.5 GB of space. Required accounts are created automatically ( screenshot ).

The network OS works in all normal browsers, as well as in Internet Explorer via ActiveX.

UPD: Unfortunately, Opera does not start the system at all.
