Sony today announced the new Xperia Sola . In contrast to the three already well-known new products of this year's NXT series, Sola belongs to a separate line, which can be seen from the absence of the already familiar transparent strip under the display. The diagonal of the screen is 3.7 ", so the model is exactly the size exactly between the 3.5-inch Xperia U and the 4-inch Xperia P recently announced .
The main feature of the novelty is the touch screen control without touch. The smartphone fixes the position of the finger above the display and highlights the necessary links, to navigate through which a short tapa is sufficient. This is a unique technology Sony, applied for the first time not only on the brand’s smartphones, but also on the market in general. Engineers of the company separately made sure that the floating touch did not install the battery - according to their statements, the difference with the usual touch screen is so small that it will not even be noticed by consumers. A full description of the technology, as well as an API for application developers, as always, in the Sony Mobile developer blog .
The rest is a powerful modern smartphone of the average price category, running on a GHz dual-core processor STE U8500, with 8 GB of internal memory (up to 5 GB is available to the user) and a slot for microSD memory cards up to 32 GB. A 3.7-inch display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine image enhancement technology with a resolution of 854x480 pixels is responsible for user contact. Powerful surround sound provides xLOUD technology and two external speakers.
Sola is also equipped with a fast capture camera, which takes the first frame in just a second, even when the display is locked, and NFC support.
Xperia Sola will be available for sale in the second quarter, with Android 2.3.7 on board, but, of course, with the ability to upgrade to 4.0 in the summer.
